How the arithmetic works

Drinks per year is your daily count times 365. Bean weight is that figure times your dose, converted at 453.592 grams to the pound — which is why the dose field moves the total more than people expect. Two drinks a day at 18 g is about 29 lb of coffee a year.

Break-even compares only what changes: the up-front spend against the yearly gap between brewing at home and buying the same drinks out. If your running cost is higher than what you would spend out, the tool says so instead of inventing a payback month.

What this does not do: it does not price your time, guess a machine's lifespan, or predict a repair. It also does not know today's retail price of anything. Every figure here is your own input.
