FOG MACHINES, SIDE BY SIDE

Chauvet Hurricane 1800 Flex vs Froggy's Fog Titan 1200

Both are Worthivo Recommended, for different nights. Here is where each may run, what each maker states and what owners report, side by side, so you can match one to the night you are planning.

We think this one is worth buying.

Weighed against everything we found, the evidence runs in this product’s favour for the person it is built for. That does not mean it suits everybody, so the review still names who should skip it.

  • We read what owners actually report, across sources that do not copy each other.
  • We check the buzz is real before it counts — a marketing budget can buy discussion.
  • We look for what would prove us wrong, and publish it either way.
  • We distinguish our judgment from source reports, and publish the limits.
What this badge is not Not a score, not a ranking, and not a claim that nothing ever goes wrong. It is our reading of what owners report, and the review below shows the reasoning.

Froggy's Fog Titan 1200: buy it for a lot of fog on a timer

Match the machine to the night

  • An indoor hall, venue or big party room, with someone at the machine all night

    Chauvet Hurricane 1800 Flex

This is the night the Chauvet's verdict covers. Its maker allows indoor use only, and never unattended. [8]

  • Fine output control from a DMX lighting desk

    Chauvet Hurricane 1800 Flex

The Chauvet takes one DMX channel on a 3-pin socket. Froggy's specifications give the Titan 1200 no DMX channels. [8] [9]

  • A haunt, a yard display or an event, with fog on a timer through the evening

    Froggy's Fog Titan 1200

This is the night the Titan's verdict covers: its included timer remote fires it at the interval, duration and output you set. [7] [10]

  • Fog outside, in a dry yard

    Froggy's Fog Titan 1200

The Titan's manual rules out rain, moisture and flammable surfaces but does not limit it to indoor use; set the output and duration low and keep the fog off the road. Chauvet's manual rules out outdoor use. [10] [11] [8]

  • A venue, landlord or insurer that requires UL- or ETL-listed equipment

    Check first

Lowe's lists the Titan as not safety listed and its manual names no UL, ETL or CSA listing, which rules it out. Chauvet's product page lists a CE approval and shows no UL or ETL listing, so ask the venue whether that is enough. [12] [10] [13]

The two machines, side by side

Every figure is the maker's own, from the current manual or product page, unless the row says otherwise.

The machine the verdict coversThe current compact 120 V version (V3 design, maker item 05071511), sold since 2018. Its evidence covers pseudonymous owner accounts from 2019 to 2026: the United States on Amazon.com and Sweetwater, with Amazon accounts from Mexico also in the examined set. [14] [8] [1] [2]New FFM-TITAN-1200 units (120 V) sold in the United States from 2018 to 2026; the maker documents no revision in that time. [15] [10] [9]

FluidChauvet's water-based fluids. [8] [13]Froggy's water-based fluid only. [10]
Safety listingThe product page lists a CE approval and shows no UL or ETL listing. [13]Lowe's lists it as not safety listed; the manual names no UL, ETL or CSA listing. [12] [10]
WarrantyThe current manual refers to Chauvet's website for the terms. [8]Two years in the manual and at Lowe's, one year on B&H's listing; the manual's warranty covers U.S. purchases only. [10] [12] [16]
Longest use owners describeOne Halloween season, in a pseudonymous owner account of the current version (2020). The pseudonymous accounts of ten years' service describe the earlier, heavier version. [17] [18]Pseudonymous owners in two venues report machines still working after two seasons (about two years on Amazon; a forum owner's dated posts from 2020 to 2023). [19] [20] [21] [6]

What owners report

Owner accounts are paraphrased and dated, from the sources each review examined. The full account, with every source, is in each review.

Chauvet Hurricane 1800 Flex

What owners praise

Pseudonymous owner accounts on two retailer sites, Amazon and Sweetwater, describe very heavy output with fine control from the current compact version: excellent output and fine control over DMX (October 2024), one full-output cycle filling a bar's event room (January 2025), and large wedding halls filled quickly (January 2023). [1] [2] [3]

What to weigh before choosing

Pseudonymous accounts on the Amazon listing report units that failed early, from 2019 to 2024, and one display board that failed about a year after purchase, just after the warranty ended (October 2021). [22] [23] [24] [25] [26]

These remain individual accounts on one listing: the September 30, 2026 search of Sweetwater, zZounds, B&H, Walmart, Halloween Forum and HauntForum found no second-venue report of these early failures in the current version. Separately, one pseudonymous B&H owner reports a trail of fog fluid on the floor (September 2023). [2] [27] [28] [29]

Why Worthivo still recommends it

Worthivo's Recommended verdict rests on the current version's heavy-output accounts from two independent retailer sites. The failure accounts matter, but do not establish a corroborated current-version pattern in the examined sources; the fluid-on-floor account is also individual. Neither is a reason to promise years of service from this version. [1] [2] [26] [28]

Froggy's Fog Titan 1200

What owners praise

Pseudonymous owner accounts in three venues, Amazon, Sweetwater and Halloween Forum, describe a lot of dense fog, fast: a living room filled in about ten seconds (August 2024), a haunted house in a very large room (October 2025), a festival and a 32,000 cubic foot haunted house over eight-hour shifts (November 2025), and a great deal of fog for a long-time haunter (October 2023). [4] [30] [5] [6]

Pseudonymous accounts in two venues, Amazon and Sweetwater, describe the included timer firing it through an evening or an event, at the interval, duration and output the owner set. [7] [31] [5]

Pseudonymous owners in two venues report machines still working after two seasons: about two years on Amazon, and a forum owner's dated posts from a February 2020 purchase to an October 2023 report. [19] [20] [21] [6]

What to weigh before choosing

A failure pattern in the examined evidence comes from pseudonymous accounts in two venues: Titan 1200 units with lights on but no fog at first set-up on Amazon (September 2025 and September 2026), and a unit that stopped fogging in an October 2024 Facebook group thread. The Facebook poster identifies the Titan 1200 in a later reply, leaving unclear whether it was the month-old unit or one from the year before. [32] [33] [34]

Further pseudonymous Amazon accounts describe units lasting under eight months in fire-academy use, a failure eight days after a warranty of unstated length, and a return with no reason given (all 2024). The Titan 1200 failure evidence spans 2023 or 2024 to 2026, first set-up to more than a year; the Amazon accounts concern U.S. purchases. The Facebook poster's other Froggy's machines and a 2025 HauntForum report are brand-level context, not corroboration about this model. [35] [36] [37] [34] [38]

Why Worthivo still recommends it

Worthivo's Recommended verdict stands because favourable accounts predominate across the independent sources examined: output and timer reports remain untouched by this pattern, and pseudonymous owners in two venues report machines still working after two seasons. The failures make durability contested, not guaranteed. The manual and Lowe's give a two-year warranty; B&H lists one year. Those terms do not resolve the failure reports. Set up and run a new unit when it arrives, rather than on the night. [5] [6] [20] [10] [12] [16]

What each maker asks of you

Chauvet Hurricane 1800 Flex

  • Allow 20 inches of ventilation around it. All fog and haze machines may set off smoke detectors, surfaces can become slippery, and the nozzle may stay hot for several hours after use. [8]
  • Run Chauvet's fog cleaner every 30 to 90 days, followed by a distilled-water flush. Before storage, clean it and do not refill the tank, then test-run it monthly. [8]
  • Pseudonymous owners of the earlier version describe keeping fog fluid in the lines between seasons; that is owner practice, not the maker's instruction. [39] [40]

Froggy's Fog Titan 1200

  • Keep children, animals and unauthorised people away from it; the housing gets scalding hot and the nozzle stays hot for a long time. [10]
  • Keep it off flammable surfaces such as carpet, wood, linoleum, paper, carton and plastic, and keep flammable materials away while it runs. Unplug it when it is not in use, and never run it from a dimmer. [10]
  • Store it cool and dry, away from freezing, heat above 120 degrees and damp. The manual gives two storage instructions that conflict: one leaves fog fluid in the tubing to protect the pump, the other says to flush with distilled water and not refill the tank. Test-run it monthly. [10]
  • A Halloween Forum owner's own practice is never to store a fogger dry; that is an owner's practice, not the maker's instruction. [21]

Where fog is allowed, alarms, residue and the walkway are in step 5 of the Halloween guide.

How this comparison was made

  • This comparison is built from Worthivo's two research records, one for each machine, and the sources each review cites: the makers' manuals and product pages, retailer listings, and pseudonymous owner accounts on Amazon, Sweetwater, Halloween Forum and a Facebook group, read from September 29 to October 1, 2026.
  • Owner accounts are paraphrased and dated, with no usernames, ratings or counts. Owner accounts identify questions and recurring friction; they are not used to calculate how common anything is.
  • The source screen excluded Chauvet's disclosed product-tester reviews syndicated to B&H and Walmart (2023), and Titan's incentivized or syndicated Lowe's reviews (2025–2026). The examined Amazon accounts carried no incentive labels. Neither examined evidence set established manufactured attention. [29] [1] [12] [41]
  • Worthivo may earn a commission on either machine through the paid links on this page; the commission never enters a verdict.
